Default got questions about tires again

Why do they put a smaller sidewall on a tire in the rear. For example.. 215/45r17 and 245/40r17. Is it better for cornering.?
Thanks

the sidewall height remains relatively the same with a 215/45 vs a 245/40.

The 2nd number is a ratio of the width, so 214*.45 = 97 vs 245*.4 =98 so its basically the same.

If you were running non-staggered, you'd have the same sidewall height
