Default Help with winter tire sizing

My knowledge of tire sizing is very limited. I am currently running 16x7 (f) and 16x8

For winter, skinnier is better. I would go one size down on the rear...maybe 235 or 225 and go the same size as the front 205s.

Hi,

Do yourself a favor and pick up some cheap AP1 rims for $200.(or even less. I've seen some go for $75 on regional forums). You're looking at $50-70 mount and the same to dismount/mount your tires in spring. The wear and possible chipping for those Volks aren't worth the hassle and trouble, much less the money you spend this year and next will make up for the cost of the used set of AP1 rims.

Then mount some snow tires on them (205 and 225).

Good luck.

You should be in the 205/55R16 front and 225/50R16 rear. If you live in an area that gets a lot of snow you can even run the 205/55R16 all the way around.
If I can help let me know.

Jim, if one would run 205/55R16 all around ... is it ok to mount them on the oem rear wheels or should one get an extra set of front oem's and run those all around?

You'll be fine to mount them on the rear oem wheels since the rear is not that wide and wont be stretching to fit 205/55R16
