I have just got a set of kumho 712's ...(money was a little tight)

How do you think it would run in comparison to the orig 16" S02's.

Obviously the S02 is stickier .. but would the increased width help at all?

 

I'm running the 712s big brother--the MX--in the same sizes. The 225 fronts definitely have more traction (way less understeer), and I'm cornering at or slightly above the speeds of the stock S02s. Unfortunately you've got a less grip--even with the wider tires--with the 712s. But they'll last a lot longer and you should have more fun sliding on the 712s than on the S02s...
