You will not rub if you go with a less aggressive tire. How many times in the past 5 years have we gone over this?
Come on guys.
+49 front is great and +55 rear is also great on a 8 and 9 for widths. Just goto a 245 rear tire and you will be fine. You can also goto a 215 front tire. I have had a 215 tire for years with no problems with a 3 inch drop. Thats a fact. Some well most people are way way to conservative when it comes to wheel applications with the S2000. I will break it down for you and everyone so they can learn this in the 1 min. it takes to read this..
I will go over 17 and 18s by PM (dont want to type to much)
You can run ...
17x7-7.5 and go as low as a +39 front without rubbing with a 215/45/17 tire. I have used Falken/Bridgestone/Toyo for this. You can use a 215/40/17 tire as well. Anything lower than a +39 you will rub. Now also take into consideration this is with a 2.5-3.0 inch drop. If your higher than that (90% of S2k community is anyway) then you will be ok. I have gone through 10+ sets of tires and wheels in the last 4 years and am telling you what we have come up with and found.
17x8-9 rears you can go with as low as a +38 rear (on a 8 rear with a 235 tire) +45-+47(on the 8.5 rear with a 245 tire) and anything over +50 (245 and up tire) on the 9 rear. You can possibly go lower on the 8.5 (meaning offsets) but you will then need to run a 235 rear tire. Now all of this is fine and dandy if your anywhere from 0-1.75 inch drop. If your stock height your fine. Remember this is for daily driving purposes.
Anyway this was a quick reference for the guys that really like to "dump" the S2000. Which of course is not recommended..
I also have specs for 17s and 18s with the larger Endless calipers..Infact we have been back and forth with Work Japan on what will work and what wont. I ordered my Work S1 3 piece wheels and will be just fine with the right tire/ drop/ offset/ and most important no spacer and no rubbing issues at a 3 inch drop on 7x5 front and 9 rear..

I am running the same set up now.. Espelir springs for the drop, no rub.
BTW the rears are 9.5 inches.. I am running a 255/40 in the rear.
Search for my other posts, there are a few other pics around.
Here is a pic when I put them on
And yes they are 9.5 in rear if they are from Tire Rack.
Hope this helps, if you would have kept you Spugen single we would be twins.

vvs, I acutally looked at your car and made my final decision on these wheels. you have one photo shot from a lower angle that makes the car lower....my car looks identical to your's except for the spugen now that i will have comptechs...i picked up a set of apr cf mirrors today from ups and it seems like you have a set as well (sig) and i didn't know that...
jsap, thanks for the great info...i'm going to talk to sos or tirerack about what they would do for me...i really would hate to get rid of these though...would you happen to know how much mileage compensation i should expect by running negative camber to prevent rubbing? avs are supposed to last 15-20k daily driving miles...so how much deduction by running neg.? thanks for the info...i wish i would've known or asked the board before i ordered...

Yes, I got the mirrors too and the APR cooling plate through the group buy. It compliments the black wheels pretty good.
I ran a set of used tires first to be sure the size was right. Glad this helps.
Here is a pic with the mirrors...

I was almost at OEM specs with my Weds in the front. I do know for a fact I was running -2.5/-2.6 rear camber. I was running Falken and Toyo tires and they lasted over a year. Now I am going to switch to Yoks. I want to try out the Parada Spec 2's or the ADVAN's.

I have to stay a little conservative on everything. Some people freak out if the tires ever rub or look like they will rub. Others will do what is needed to make something fit. That is what the JDM fitments are. They go with wider wheels and narrower tires.
I like the 245 width rear tires on the SP1 for the most clearance.
If I can help let me know.
