performance question relating to tires/suspension
Hey,
I have a 2001 S2000. I have Bridgestone Potenza S-02's on the front and Kumho MX tires on the back.
the other day I was driving fast and came upon a slow line of cars and decided to pass. just as I was looking in my blindspot, the car in front of me slammed on the brakes because the car in front of him was turning unexpectedly. I whipped into the other lane, moving the steering wheel hard left to get into the left lane then right to stay in the lane. The car of course responded quickly but fishtailed hard. I know that I have pretty good tires on the car. The Bridgestone's are less than 3 years old, and I just bought the Kumho's. Everything else is factory. I am thinking of autocrossing this car (amateur) in the future, and obviously this is an undesirable trait. Is it doing this because the tires still aren't good enough, or does the suspension need to be upgraded. Thanks in advance for any information

The Kuhmo MX is slightly less sticky and has slightly less rubber on the road. Of course your front tires must have lost some grip after 3 years. If it was cold, wet, and/or you just started driving, the tires don't grip as well.
The first 2 model years had the stiffest rear springs. Some autocrossers have gone to a stiffer aftermarket front sway bar, especially when using wider front tires.
