that looks great! What tire and wheel size did you go with? Any rubbing during the track event? Im looking to pick up a set for track and autox events.
Also, do you think I could get away with the 17x8 Enkei pf01 with a 245/40? Reason being is the 17x8 +50 fits my stoptech bbk and the 17x9+60 does not. I have the fenders tabs pushed up and out of the way but the rest of the fender is not rolled.
225/45/17 is pretty much the max you can run on 17x8+50 without fender work.
245/40 on an 8" wheel will make your turn in really soft and numb. Muffin topping is not beneficial to handling.
In autocross A/ and B/Street classes it is common to put a 245/40-17 on the OEM 7" wide rim. Needless to say, it is pinched. However, most say it is faster with better support in the front.
Whether the tire should be maxed or the rim should be maxed depends on the rules and the tires. In autocross street classes, OEM widths are required. In STR, the rim is 9" and the tire 255 or less. Some NASA classes restrict tire section width.
Asphalt super late models (on left) and classic Formula Fords (on right) have rim width restrictions and used tires that are fairly heavily cantilevered. However, those tires are specifically designed for that application.
It is a little stretched but not too bad. Eventually I will work my way up to 245 front 255 rear, I just didnt want to do it at my first track event (too much oversteer)?
