Default Quick Help, About to purchase tire replacements.

Ok well I purchased a new set of s-03's for my s2k a while back, the rears are shot but the fronts are still roadworthy. Im going to be putting a set of Bridgestone RE050A Pole Positions on to replace the rears and keep the current s-03's up front. Have a couple questions.

1) Is it safe to mix n' match tires (diff set up front/back) even if they are the same brand.

2) What is the widest tire I can fit on the stock wheels in order to increase the contact patch with the ground. (Stock car, not lowered, etc). I was thinking upping it to 235's or maybe even 245's? Any suggestions?

Any help from Jim would be appreciated, or anyone else who has any reliable info before I blow $300 bucks.

Mixing tires will slightly change the handling dynamics of the car. "Safe" is if you understand this and don't exceed the new limits.
A 245 rear tire is about as wide as you can go with the OEM rims. An aftermarket 245 will give you about the same contact patch as the OEM 225s. Look here:

If you've been running 225 SO3 tires on the back, you've been short changed.

Yes, you actually should have had this size on your current SO3s.
