To the OP, what are you looking to do with the tire and how much experience do you have in that realm? If its just street or spirited driving, R Comps are a waste. I'm a big fan of tracking on street tires as long as you absolutely can. They are easier to drive, teach you more, and are still very quick. They usually last longer and are cheaper to procure, and they have more use than just driving on track.

That being said, My preference goes as follows - NT01>RA1>R888 for those three. I don't have any experience on the Ventus TD, but it looks to be a phenomenal tire. Until you feel you are at the absolute limit of adhesion on street tires, I wouldn't recommend moving up from street tires. Spend the money on more seat time while on street tires. I STILL track my car on street tires (though I also run A6s, R6s, Continental Slicks, etc) - the Star Spec and RSS, and RE-11 are my go to tires.

If you are set on R Compound tires We do carry the Toyo R888 and RA1, BF Goodrich R1 in the 255/40R17 size. Like others have mentioned you can also look at the Extreme performance tires like the RE-11, Star Specs,RS-3 and the Yokohama Advan Neova AD08.
These are not going to give you the ultimate grip but will give you more feedback and better wet traction.
If I can help let me know.

I am getting to where I am beginning to catch up to the car with the RS3s. I am thinking I will get a set of tires/wheels for the track and just use them there.

As for seat time, no question, I am investing in the driver mod and have been for a few years. I run fairly close to the instructor group and look to join those ranks shortly.

The reason for the R comps would simply be to move closer to the limits of the car. I agree the street tire in the staggered config is a great way to continue to eke out improvement. I plan to do so. BUT,

the R comps would be the way I want to proceed with a square setup on new wheels. That would provide a great option either way.

I am looking at aero and suspension also, but tires are the biggest piece of the foundation for having a solid car, beyond driver.
