I think it's too early to say for sure on the RE070. I'd put the Azenis up with the RE-01R and Yokohama Advan Neova in the highest grip street tire category. The RE050 is a step down from there in grip, but perhaps better in ride quality.

Good question-

The Azenis (200 treadwear) is more comparable really with the Yok Advan 048 (60 tw). The Azenis treadwear is specifically designed to get past SCCA. The neova is a good tire, just not quite in the same league.

I was fortunate to spend some time with the Yok engineer at ALMS and he gave the thumbs up to hand-cutting a wet groove on the inside of the Advan 048 to make it slightly safer on the street and in very light rain.

The 050 is an OK tire. Really pretty good for an OE. The 070 (140 tw) I haven't driven, but if the rumors are true it may be a killer STREET tire with a two depth sticky layer to save you in the rain when the tire is worn.

Considering that among the 79 STX and STU entrants at the SCCA solo nationals this year, there were a total of 2 on Falkens would suggest that the Neova and RE-01R are at least in the same league as the Azenis, contingency money or not... everyone there wants to win.

For ultimate grip on the street, I think any of the 3 (or 4 counting the RE070) would be fine.

I don't have the full listing of competitors tires in front of me and I don't want to get in an apples-oranges discussion: STX/U vs. A-B stock is a false comparison. SCCA street tire competition was not what I was talking about it was jus an aside on the marketing. A monkey on hoosiers can spank.

Grassroots motorsports just did that test. The Azenis won.

We are really in the golden period for tires, the limiting factor is really the driver.

Speaking from personal experience I can say that the rt-615s are superb. For dry taction that is. Havent driven them in the rain as I dont let my baby get wet unless in the shower. But for the price that i got mine for i can not complain one bit. (dads a tire dealer). Love my falkens. PS NEVER EVER UNDER ANY REASONS USE GOODYEAR EAGLE F1S DS-G3 TIRES THEY SUCK WORSE THAN A TOOTHLESS HOOKER IN VEGAS.
