re050 vs rt615 vs re070
rt 615 is up with neova and r01r? don't take this offensively but for the price rt615 is good but you can't compare them with neova or r01r. I personally have ro1r and they are outstanding tire even in the wet they are pretty good considering they're all summer tire. I don't like it when people rate ultra summer tire bad in the rain because they are not design to do that. My friend ran neova and then rt615 and now he is burning out as much as possible so he can get a new set of neova and we both have s2. Just my personal experience, if you have the money get the neova or r01r, yes they are expensive. If you don't then the 615 is great for the price too, but you can't compare it with grip, especially in the wet. money money money
I track and daily drive my car. The 050's are good wet and dry, excellent grip and outstanding control feel. A really good tire. Just finishing up my first set of 615's. Hated the first 50%. They heated up very fast, grip no better than the 050's and they give very little feeback at the limit. The last 50% is better. Grip is up and I guess I'm getting used to the fact they give very little feedback. IMO feedback, especially at the limit, is critical. How can you drive fast, with confidence, if the tire ain't talkin' to you? My next tire will be the RE01.
GRM had the Neova, R01R, Azenis and Federal. The Azenis won straight up.
Look at the time attack I posted above, the Azenis did really well, just as well as the rest. My favorite, the advan held the top time...
AFAIK Yes you can compare them when they post essentially identical performance in an unbiased sample, and the top place in a back to back test on an identical car.

I haven't seen the GRM test, but don't dispute their results. I'm guessing their testers are veteran racers of one sort or another. To them, control feel may not be a big issue. To me, a lowly weekend warrior, it's a big issue. Call me a wus, but when I'm doing 110+ into T8 at Big Willow, I want my tires to talk to me.In my experience, the 615's do not communicate well with the driver. That doesn't mean that can't go fast, it just means it's much spookier at the limit. Especially during the first 50% of wear, I constantly found myself sliding and couldn't figure out why that was happening. I will say this, they've made me a better driver. Still, I can't wait to get back to a tire with better control feel. Also, in my experience, the 615's are bad to dangerous in the wet.
The Neova's are very good but very expensive. The RE01's are better than the excellent 050's and only a bit more. IMO, if your name is Andretti, the 615's are a good choice. For the rest of us, a tire that provides excellent feedback and is good wet or dry is the smart way to go.
Another thing to consider is how many laps the tires see in the GRM test. I would say that the RT-615 is a good dry grip tire good for a couple laps, and then it begins to become a little squeally. The bridgestone and advan will hold up much better for longer durations. Also if wet traction is an issue, definitely the Neova. The Neova even though more expensive is think about it this way. The only thing that keeps your car in contact with the road is your tires.
