Default Rears worn, fronts are still meaty - need help!

My car has a little over 16k miles, and the factory original rear tires are getting to the point where I don't feel comfortable driving on them here in FL where it rains every day in the summer. However, the fronts have plenty of tread left - probably another 8k miles or so.

What would you guys do, replace just the rears? I'd rather not run mismatched tires, and those new Continental DWs are getting great reviews at a pretty reasonable price. Putting factory tires even on the rear can cost a fortune, but I'm open to any suggestions. Help a brotha out.

Shortly after putting Re-01R's all the way around, they ceased manufacturing them. So when the rears needed replacing I wasn't much in the mood to replace all 4 corners again, with the fronts still sweet. So I slapped a pair of Re-11's on the rear and have been driving with no adverse affects for months and I don't roll around like grandma.

In Tampa I drive the same conditions you do. But I do like those 'Stones.

Replace the rears with comparable spec tires. Or replace all four with something else less expensive than OEM spec BS's. You can almost put 4 HTRZ III's on for the price of OEM rears.

Check the f/s boards. Sometimes when people get rims you'll find RE050's up there at a reduced cost with lots of life left in them.

I'm going to be in a similar situation by this fall. I'm weighing RE-11 v. RE050's.
