18,000 miles and worn out rears, that is the same problem I have! The rears are gone but the fronts are like new. If I put 245-45 on the rear and leave the stock tires on the front, it's going to look like a drag car! Does anyone have an idea as to how long the fronts will last? If not, does anyone in So. Cal. need some slightly used fronts?

Oscar, on an S2000 the fronts typically last twice as long as the rears.

I'm in the same situation my fronts are fine except for typical cupping because I can't rotate (unless I want to dismount them). What I can't believe is that some of you actually get 18,000 miles out of your rear tires. I'm at 6,900 miles and mine won't make it another 1,000 miles, my inside 3 inches is just about gone. I don't spin my tires (okay maybe once or twice) and I don't think I drive any more agressivly than anyone else with this car would, so what's up with that? I was thinking of changing brands just to get more mileage, I'd be ecstatic to get 18,000 miles.

I changed from the OEM SO-2's to SO-3's at 12,000 miles--
the SO-3's now have 1,500 miles on them .. they have a
different feel than the OEM's .. but the safety on wet is a no brainer for those of us who use this car during daily commutes.

I went through the tire choice dilemma about a month ago and chose to stick with the orig s02's and have no regrets. Based on their grip in the dry, looks(vs s03, Pilots), that I drive mostly in dry weather, and tire wear I got on the originals(29k out of the rears and 35k on the fronts) that was the choice that made the most sense. I dont recommend mixing/matching - briefly tried a lower performance tire on the rear but the lack of grip and lack of stability at high speeds made the car a handful to drive hard.

Hi I was just wondering if the BF Goodrich's g-Force would be better than the stock s02s on dry pavement when its cold.

I think the big problem we have is stagger. Honda got it right with the setup we have for dry conditions. I think the jury is still out on a replacement for daily driver conditions.

Why didn't they use the standard OE S-02 rather than having a special tire for this car made? The front is .1 narrower and the rear is .4 wider. I say this difference in stagger gave the car perfect balance.

Now we come to the S-03 as a replacement. The front is .5 wider and the stock rear size is .2 narrower - probably not a good combination. The 245/45 rear is .6 wider - probably a better combination.

At some point Honda will probably switch over to the S-03 and it will be a different sized tire than is now available.

I put new rears on at 11,000 miles and re-mounted the fronts as they were wearing slightly on the inside. I am now at 18,000 and will need all four replaced in a few thousand.

OK, so if I wanted S03s that were the exact same size in the rear (ACTUAL size) as the OEM tires... what size would I need?????

It looks like I would need:
Front - 205/555/16
Rear - 245/45/16

If you put on any new tires have the alignment checked. The dealer does nothing and Honda doesn't seem to think it's much of a priority either. My first set of S02's wore out extremely unevenly the rears at 6k the fronts at 23k. My new S02 pole positions have 6k on them now and show virtualy no wear. The difference is, I had a very competent technician align the wheels.
