Replacement tires
Jim@tirerack,
I started a thread not to long ago about a tire comparison.

What do you think about getting a few S2000's together and testing some of these tires on them?

Can anyone give a definative answer that the Bridestone S03's have as good as (if not better) than the S02's. I'd like to see a skidpad number or lap times. Just something that numerically proves which is the better tire.
Anyone that has put the S03's on please post your opinion.

Because the OE S-O2 tire was tuned for the S2000 and so it does handle very good for the car. The strong advantage of the S-03 is the wet traction will be better as the tire wears. I would say that the S-03 has a lower rolling resistance rubber compound and so in theory the tire should wear longer and the car get better fuel economy.
The S-02 does have a wider footprint and is a little more squared off to improve handling and neither Honda or Bridgestone is going to do a tire test to prove that there is a better tire for the car.
I think in the testing that we have done that the S-03 is the best max performance tire we have tested. The braking and turn in response, as well as the ride quality, was second to none. I don't think the S-03 will give better dry handling from the start over the S-02 but as the tire wears I think the S-03 will be better in the long run.
If I can help let me know.
Thank you

I am assuming from all the above information that if I put:
245-45x16 tires on the rear.
225-50x16 tires on the front.
With stock wheels,
there will be no tire rubbing on fenders or suspension,
the speedometer will still be accurate and
the handling be relatively the same.
Is this an accurate assessment?

I'm at 18,000 miles on my MY2000 and my rear tires (original S02's) need to be replaced, but my front tires (also original) have LOTS of tread. I am switching to S03's and therefore need to change all 4. Is it typical for the rears to wear at least twice as fast as the fronts? What does one do with a pair of perfectly good S02's? Anybody in the Columbus, OH area want them?
