Default Right rear stock tire

My right rear stock tire seems to be wearing faster than the other tires. It doesn't even hold the tire wet that the other tires hold. Is it because it's the first one to spin when I take off or what? I don't burn out at all but that tire looks worn!!

I'm seeing the same thing. I have a 2001 with 17,700 miles. The right rear is almost slick and the left rear still has tread. The right is probably too slick to swap right to left. I need to replace them but I want to find out how to avoid or minimize this unequal wear on the replacement tires.

you can't really avoid this. its completely natural. rear wheel drive cars drive the power to the right rear of the car before the left.

Yeah, I understand that. I just thought the Thorsen differential was somewhat like a limited slip differential in that it would make both rear tires grip and hence wear equally. From http://rcstation.co.nz/old_site/technical/.../technical.html, "The THORSEN differential, generally defined as 'intelligent' by technicians, permits a higher discharge of power over the wheels, thus preventing skidding when coming out of curves or after wheel skipping, as well as supplying always the same torque to both wheels." This would seem to generate more equal wear. What do I misunderstand here?

The Torsen LSD does help to maintain equal grip from side to side while accelerating. I speculate that since the left rear has more grip most of the time (driver's weight on that side), the more lightly loaded right rear slips a little before the diff. adjusts power distribution. Anyone out there with more wear on the left in LHD countires like Australia or the UK?

My right rear wears faster than the left rear too, but it is not a large difference. The tires may look very different towards the end of their life, but when I measured mine there was only about 1/32 more wear on the right. I don't think it's worth swapping tires from side to side for the small difference in wear - it just means you have to replace the rears a little sooner than otherwise.
