I don't know if this is a dumb question or not...I suspect that it is.

I bought a set of 16" Regamasters from someone on the board. I installed them, noticed that they were a little low, and measured them all at 33psi hot.

I went to the gas station and added 5psi to the driver's side tires without any problems. When I tried doing the two passenger side tires, I couldn't get the valves to accept any air. The valve would leak air and the hose would blow air out, but nothing went into the tires. When I examined the valves closely after giving up on adding more air, I could hear air slowly hissing out.

Can anyone figure out what I could have been doing wrong? It looks like the pin in the valve stems sticks out past the edge of valve.Do I need new valve stems? They are metal instead of the usual black rubber.

Sounds like they (the valves) aren't screwed in all the way so the rubber gasket of the fill hose couldn't seat up on the lip.
Go to the auto parts store and get the tool to screw the valve in. Looks like a tube with a small bite taken out of the end.

I would take the car back to the the company that put your tires on. There is something wrong and they should fix it no charge. It could be a number of things with the stem.

I just got back from my local installer. RT was right on the money: the valve cores were loose. He tightened them in about 20 seconds, and they now work great.
