Default Which tires should I get?

I need to replace my tires. I have star specs now but they are not available anymore. So I need some feedback on which of the following I shoukd choose. My S is only a weekend toy and it doesn't see much rain. I only car about dry grip for spirited driving & auto crossing. Thanks for your input.

1) BFG Rival
2) dunlop z2
3 Yoko AD08r
4) toyo R1R
5 Bridgestone RE-11

Add the kuhmo XS to the list for your needs. If you don’t care about wet traction, they exceed dry traction ultimate grip numbers over any of those tires listed above. They also hold up well on the track consistently I have found at higher temps, which not all extreme summer tires do very well. The sidewalls are firm but not bricks, so they do provide precise feel overall but without being overly harsh on the road. Also if you were happy with the Z1, you should be pleased with the z2. You might give something else a go for shits and giggles though like the XS. If you said I want a good all around tire for wet/dry grip and DD, I wouldn’t have recommended them. But like you I care only about max dry performance in fair weather conditions and track, I have a second vehicle for everything else.

I have no personal experience with the AD08's, but I've heard that both the RS3's and Star specs outperform them for a significantly smaller price tag. You may also consider Continental DW's.

I say go with the Dunlop ZII, *unless* that is you aren't happy with the Star Specs.

My brother just ordered a new set of ZII's to autocross his Miata, looking forward to hearing what he thinks of them. The ZII's seem to be a very popular choice for autocross enthusiasts, as are the RE-11A and Hankook RS-3.

If you're interested primarily in grip, no to the DW's. While I think they are a great tire (which I'm running now), I'm shopping for more grip. Since I do care about the wet traction, I'm thinking RE-11a's.

Without a wet traction requirement, I think you'd probably be looking at either the ZII's, RS3's, RE11a's, AD08's, or Rivals (in order of preference from what I've been READING/shopping).
