Track only tires
Setup will depend on any other supporting mods that you plan on doing. If you're going to run a big GT-style wing, then definitely a square wheel/tire setup. If you're going to run without aero, then maybe slight stagger will benefit you (17x9/10 with 245/255 F/R).
If you have very little tracking experience, track the car stock for at least 5-6 sessions before doing anything - more if you can hold off the mod bug - you'll be thankful that you did once you finally do start modding (I tracked mine 2 years stock before doing anything beyond camber joints).
As for the Wedssport TC105N 17x9 +49, it's a very good setup. You'll need to roll your fenders and relocate bumper tabs if you want to run 245 or 255 square, but it provides quite a bit more mechanical grip. It also gives you really good clearance to run a BBK (stoptech or AP), which if you get serious about tracking, you'll want to do. You'll find that your number one consumable (even over tires), will become front brake pads and rotors. A BBK will pay for itself after approximately 15 track days.

Bullwings, thank you for the advice.
I will track the car stock for as long as i can and hold off on the spend. I actually no longer care for minor cosmetic damages to the wheel. I don't plan on selling this car ever, so a second set of wheels would always be nice to take to the track.
My first track day is in a few weeks and I currently have Sumimoto HTR ZIII from the previous owner. Hopefully I can get some good tracking days out of the 60-70% tread left, although this is not the best tires for the track... once i use these up, i'll smack some RS3's or ZII on the OEMs and just a decent set of street tires with EXTRA tread life on the WedsSports to use for 1-2 yrs on street.
Thanks again everyone for the input!! May that one day come when I will be running Hoosier on my S
I would re-iterate some of the comments about avoiding modifications (except safety related like brake fluid) until you've had a good amount of seat time on the track. That goes for tires as well, avoid r-comps until you've pushed street tires as far as you can, my guess is that you'll learn to be a better driver faster that way without hiding deficiencies with a false sense of speed that something like r-comps will provide.

Will put rs3 (or zII SS) on one set and re11a on another until those die out.
When my stock rotor dies, ill put a stoptech bbk.
I found a pretty good deal for bnib kw clubsports ($2500!) so i am just gona pick this up and keep it in my garage until i feel solid on stock suspension. At which point, i will make one mod at a time to really appreciate the difference in each step up.
Ah, i cant wait!!!
Sounds like a plan! Most of all have fun.
I have a decent amount of track time in an AWD Evo X, just switched to the s2000. Turn's out I have a lot to learn about throttle and car control, can't mash the gas pedal anymore like I used to in the Evo.
Duly noted. After the advice of many here, i plan to do very minor mods, such as air filter, IM, TB, etc.
