V rated or W rated???
That's pretty normal life for the OEM tire, particularly the rears. There are many variables to tire design and their specifications, so the following is an oversimplification of a complex set of relationships. In general, tires with higher speed ratings are more expensive, offer greater grip and have less treadlife than tires with lower speed ratings. Your choice of tires should be made based on your needs and goals. If cost is an important consideration, recognize that less expensive tires will offer less performance but may last longer than the OEM tire. Also be aware that going with a different tire may alter the handling balance of the car. The OEM tire has come down in price over the past year, so is a very good performance value now compared to lesser tires at the same price point ... as long as you don't mind their shorter life
