why do people even measure tires with coins when they dont do it right? the coin is suppose to be posistioned eather heads up or down to gauge depth. I just see people sticking coins in tires at random angles like its suppose to do something.

Because it's something that EVERYone has handy,,, if you see tread that's about to Licoln's "eyes",,, you can pull out a coin, and reference that,,,

most of the time people dont even place the coin right or even take it at the right angle. most people pull out a coin and place it randomly then take a pic at some weird angle. serves no purpose at all

Well you can just hold the coin at the same angle as the one in the picture. Although I do agree it should all be done the same way.
