This is +45 with an 8 inch wheel and factory SO2s.

+38s would stick out about a 1/4 inch more.

Actually it wont stick out if you run the correct tire size and camber. I ran a +38 17x8 with a 235/40/17 and didnt rub in the rear. I also had a -2.5 and -2.6 rear camber. I had my car recently aligned and it will be just fine. I think thats the lowest you can go without rubbing. I went to a +35 rear and rubbed only on hard bumps or holes in the road. I had a 235/40/17 as well. So a +38 rear should be ok. Again, remember most people on here are way to conservative with tires, offsets, etc.

Good luck.

The answer is:

It depends.

Will it physically bolt up? You bet. If you plan on driving the car like a sports car should be driven it wouldn't be a good idea at all.

Any setup that requires that you run tire sizes detrimental to your car's performance should be avoided IMO.

If you don't care about how the car actually performs - then by all means go for it.
