heather, i run 205/225 and they make a big difference when its cold out. summer tires just dont cut it when it's cold as long as you take it easy they are very confidence inspiring.

i was shocked how great the car drives in snow... its cause to take the HT off and cruise top down while its snowing! and nothing like passing an SUV on the highway in snow with the top down

I just bought the same ZDAN Dunlop setup from Tirerack, it ran $510 shipped for all 4. Both the Blizzaks and Dunlops got great ratings/reviews, but from I read the Blizzaks wear out in about one season, whereas you'll get 3-5 maybe out of the Dunlops. The Dunlops also seem to do well on dry roads, that's key for me in Denver as snow only covers the roads here a few times a year.

Go with the WS 60's. I've run the LM22's for a few seasons as well as the WS50's (WS60 predessesors) You really need the ultra aggressive grip capability that only the WS60 can provide.

thanks for the input guys. I think I'm gonna go with a staggered setup as we don't get a ton of snow here.

Okay, maybe I'm just bad at searching around the threads, but...I have a 2008 S2000 and will be driving it this winter, is there anyway to put snow tires on the AP2 rims? I went on tire rack and it says that I have to get 16" tires and rims...I have no problem buying snow tires, but I don't want to fork out $400 for some cheap set of rims I'll probably never use again and won't get a dime for selling used. Any advice?

I'm also deployed to Afghanistan right now which puts a serious hurt on my ability to surf threads (slow ass internet). Again any advice is appreciated.

performance snows for AP2

Yer welcome

edit: Oops, link shows ALL ap2 sizes. Anyway, Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60 comes in 215/45-17 and 245/40-17, and I'm sure Jim has other options for you as well.

I have 17" tires for the AP2 wheels. Just send me an email about what you are looking for and I can give you a recommendation.

I would look at Bridgestone or Dunlop.

Here's what Tire Rack sold me
2 205/55R-16 Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D front
2 225/50R-16 Dunlop SP Winter Sport M3 rear
4 16x7.5 Sport Edition F9 Bright Silver Paint

The theory was that narrow tires would perform better in snow/slush and taller tires would provide better pot hole protection and better ride(lower priority) After about 400 snowy freeway miles I can say they performed very well and I became very confident about my ability to brake and stay on the road. They were also OK in the cold/dry situation and would be fine for everyday driving. However they don't perform like a summer tire and when cornering I soon learned how much was too much.

I definitely recommend getting a set of winter rims even if you get them from Ebay or Craigs. First you save the winter wear and tear on your summer rims. Second, every time you mount/dismount tires there is a chance your rims will get damaged. Third you will save some money, particularly if you can do the switch yourself.
