A late reply, but a word of warning: the Tire Rack wheels use the ball seat OE lug nuts and are hub-centric (use the hub bore to center the wheel) whereas the other experiences in this thread refer to aftermarket wheels which use conical seat lug nuts and are lug-centric (use the lug nuts to center the wheel).

Hub-centric versus Lug-centric

Therefore, using an OE style lug nut wheel without the correct hub bore may cause the wheel to not center properly, a bunch of vibration and other problems. Alternatively, this is why hub-centric rings don't matter with conical lug nut aftermarket wheels.

Having said that, years ago I used 5mm spacers with OE wheels for autocross and don't recall issues, but their use was limited to competition.

In your case, the 5mm spacers will place the outside of the wheel 3.4mm more inboard than the customary 9+63 fitment, which shouldn't rub.

Thanks for your reply! You are right, I just looked closely at lug seats on the wheels and they definitely are the ball type. I also decided that I will have the wheels bored out properly and I am not using spacers.
I found this place in Indiana, not very far from Chicago, that are specialized in wheels and can do the job right. I also talked to them and they can definitely do what I need for about $35 per wheel.
GZC Wheels

I will post a review once I get them done.

Out of curiosity though: Shouldn't the ball type center the seat as good as the conical? With the flat type it definitely makes sence why the wheel must be hub centric.

Thanks!

Did you try Wheels America? I know they do a lot of wheel refinishing, straigtening and repairing. They are located NW of Chicago IIRC. Should be pretty close to Arlington Hts.

Yes, Wheels America was one on the first places I checked. They don't do boring. I had high hopes on them and was surprised to find out that they don't do it.
