Hey all,
I just wanted to say "Hi!". I just moved (actually about a month ago) from Texas to Toyama. From what I gather most of the members of this board in Japan are in Tokyo, so I don't think I will be meeting for drinks, but I wanted to ask if ya'll knew how I could get some auto-x or track time (I've asked around at work and none of my Japanese coworkers seem to know). I was just getting into auto-x back in TX before I moved and want to keep it up as it was so much fun.
Thanks,
Darron

Hi Darren.

What a contrast - Texas and Toyama! How do you like it?
I lived in Toyama for just over a year before transferring to Tokyo. What are you doing there? I assume your S is back home in Texas?

Sorry I don't have any advice on the track stuff, but I used to go for a runs up and down the moutain - towards Bambajima (spelling?) or Shomiyo Falls (spelling?).

Wrap up warm for the winter in Toyama! Snow tires and a shovel is a must for your car. Snow should hit the streets around mid-December and continue to mid-March.

Hi Darron,

Hope you are enjoying Japan

If you make it down to Tokyo at any point, get in touch and let's see if we can meet up.

Sorry, can't give you any advice on the track stuff, like Vincent, I tend to keep it on the streets

Thanks for the replys,

So far I'm having a good time here. Unfortunately, (or maybe fortunately when the snow comes) my S is still in TX. I did find a coworker with a miata and am trying to convince him that racing it is a good idea. We found out that the nearest track is about 250km south of here and there really isn't a local autox club, so it sounds like I'll have to keep it on the streets most of the time.

I'm working in the chemical industry here as an engineer/chemist, but I've also been doing customer application support for our semiconductor manufacturing customers in the Asia. Basically, I'm a photolithography engineer who has moved over to the electronics materials manufacturing side of things (hope that make sense).

Next time I'm headed to Tokyo with some spare time I'll post here.

Cheers,

Darron
