I'm still getting used to the touch screen keyboard, for some reason I feel as if my hands are just too fat for it and I keep hitting the wrong buttons and have to backspace. I have very skinny fingers, so I'm assuming it just takes some getting used to.

This would be a problem for clumsy me

However, the main reason why I want to ditch my old phone and get a new one is that I want a better camera (with flash) but the iPhone doesn't have it.

Get a camera with a flash.

Seriously, you use the flash a couple of times and you're suddenly without a phone or a camera.

That said, Sony CyberShot phones might suit your needs.

Yea, I really miss the tactile feel of the qwerty keyboard on the blackberry and the suretype they had on it was much better than the iphone. The iPhone seems to have a basic typing system that "learns" words as you type them more often... as opposed to the blackberry which had a large dictionary/library of commonly typed words already built into the phone.

As far as the camera with flash.. I don't really use the camera much on it as most of the time the pictures are horrid. I must say the picture quality on the iphone look pretty good, quite an improvement from my BB. BUT.. i had a phone with flash before.. can't remember which one.. and the flash ate through my battery like there was no tomorrow.

I would say get the phone for the phone, not for the camera, the camera is just another handy perk.

I also prefer the full qwerty keyboard on my Dopod but there are so many other strong points on the iPhone it is a clear winner.

I agree, you give up some things to get others on the iPhone. I think once visual voicemail and native push apps are setup, I'll be 100% sold on it. Well I guess the contract already says I'm sold on it.

I went to an Optus store to play with one today. So sexy. Maps was awesome. Keyboard was clumsy though. I'm sure I'll get used to it. Funny how the original iPhone never intrigued me. My friends had them and I was like "meh". Yet with this one it has this pull on me I cannot describe. I haven't been this excited about a new phone since my Ericsson 337.

Today's news on the iPhone - Most of the TV, movie and other multimedia content offered by Optus, Vodafone and Telstra over their 3G networks is not available on the iPhone .... ... http://www.theage.com.au/news/articles/iph...5887609539.html

Is this right? Has anyone tried?

I guess so.

But I've been on the Optus network for years and never used these specialised multimedia services so I won't miss them.

The Vodafone issue is the one that brings it home. Vodafone works on a PML protocol, iPhone works on HTML. So whereas you can't get Vodafone's limited multimedia experience you get the WWW instead.

The is the first mobile device that I feel is useable for web surfing. I was at a dinner the other night and there was a discussion about Audrey Toutau, the new face of Chanel. Most didn't know who she was. I looked her up on IMDB and got a full screen picture of her.

Last night I was boring my ex with videos from Youtube.

The biggest downside of the iPhone is it has made me socially retarded.

haha I used my 6230 to cheat at trivia once by looking up a pic of someone

Screen was too small to discern the difference and we got it wrong anyway

LOL, well that proves the iPhone is better than the 6230 at least!
