That said, Sony CyberShot phones might suit your needs.
Phone cameras are useful if you really need to take a photo and don't have a camera with you but that is all. I would actually prefer to have a phone without a camera and save on weight and size.
Sounds like the iPhone is looking pretty good, have not had a chance to get to a store to play with it yet.
I was referring to this one that they are advertising a bit recently:

And if you want to play with an iPhone you just have to drive down the road.

One downside to the iPhone is it's capacity.
I've got about 10Gb of photos and music and video on mine now. Everytime I plug it into it's dock it starts to sync and takes for ever.
Not really sure what it is syncing. I've got a few podcasts updating but that is about it.

It's creating a backup of your 10gb's of information along with all the apps on your phone to make a restore point. So when you hit the restore button, you can restore from a recent restore point instead of factory default.
If you go to Itunes > Preferences > Syncing you will see all the backups there. If you don't want it to backup, hit the X on itunes when it says syncing, or cancel it on your phone. It will cancel creating the backup and will only sync your photos/calenders/address book/apps/etc..

Don't count on it, I have a K850i with the 5MP camera, picture quality is generally quite poor unless in bright daylight. My 4 year old 3.2MP compact camera produces better pictures.
