YESSSS THANKS YOU!!!!!! Seems like everyone just slaps a wing on their car before becoming a fast driver these days.

Hey mark,
i think you need a voltex wing

I'm still 2-3 seconds slower than what I can potentially do in this car.[/quote]
Yes indeed. And then they never actually become a fast driver and they don't even realize it.
No fun car to drive has gotten me on my simulator more lately.

Have you tried Project Cars? Any experience with other simulators? Feedback, good/bad? Asseto Corsa the best you've driven so far?
I'm looking forward to VR support - it's going to be an awesome budget alternative to multiple screens. It'll either be great, or I'll puke all over my wheel after 5 minutes of driving.

Assetto Corsa was far from perfect in the early days, but with each update it was getting better and better. At one point one of the updates just blew me away with how good the cars felt so I dedicated all my Sim time to that game. But I still had high hopes for Project Cars because it looked so great. When it was finally released, I was utterly disappointed. The force feedback in that game is just atrocious. I have a mid range wheel setup that is commonly used in sim racing and the feedback is horrible. The consensus is that you have to tune the settings right. But why couldn't the developers tune it right? That's their job. And Assetto Corsa does a great job of that. Project Cars also doesn't have laser-scanned tracks (only a couple from what I've read). The cars feel like you are floating over the track surface. Laguna Seca and Sonoma don't feel right in scale and elevation change like in real life.
And in the last few months, AC has just gotten better and better. I do wish they had some US tracks, but I understand the difficulties to do that since they are so euro-centric. But the physics and the force feedback just feel so fantastic in this game. So good that when I come back from a day at the track and jump in the sim, I drive even better because of the fresh muscle memory of being in a real car.
So yea I've driven most of the current sims on the market right now and find AC to be the best hands down if you want the closest to real driving.

Awesome. Thanks for the feedback. I currently have Assetto Corsa on pre-order for my PS4 (yay, consoles are finally powerful enough to process at a level for better physics modeling).
I currently have Project Cars and can't wait for the comparison. It (project cars) got a lot better with the various updates, and i've setup my wheel to give the appropriate feed back (that took at least 8 hours of combined experiment and forum research time and numerous updates on their part). From a physics modeling standpoint, i'm happy with it too after having tried the various iterations of Gran Turismo and Forza (which feel like arcade games now).
I had the opportunity to test out the sim's effectiveness/translation to real life on a rainy track day and was pleasantly surprised with how far my car control skills have come just from the time spent with on the sim. I'm definitely looking forward to the Assetto Corsa release.
My catch can had been filling up too fast lately. I couldn't do a 30 minute session yesterday without it getting filled after 20-25 minutes and then white smoke. I need to find a better solution to this issue. Here are a couple best laps from yesterday.
