Default Look at this!!

I just drove this road, and thought I'd died and gone to Heaven. This is Highway 120. It takes you to Yosemite. It is over 8 miles of nothing but hairpin turns. I just spent the weekend in Yosemite, and this was my first time there in the S. It was a GREAT drive!! The weather wasn't all that great, but I did get some good pics in, including this:

I do that ride every year to Yosemite, but it's on my bike with a select few other bikes. We've passed several cops before doing over 120+ and have never had a single one come after us.

California is indeed a veritable heaven in so many ways...especially for us S owners. Check this out www.pashnit.com/motoroads.htm Hands down the finest website online, bar none IMHO.

I'm guessing that the first picture was _TAKEN_ from Old Priest Grade.

Old Priest Grade is a shortcut straight up the hill (less than 2 miles vs. ~7 miles for 120) that starts immediately after 120 splits from 49. Having driven both a _LOT_, I find OPG is most fun [in the S2000, or anything with good power] when going up, and 120 when going down (it's like an autox course compared to a road track).

The shortcut seems to get little traffic, though if you get stuck behind someone there isn't room to legally pass until the top.

No drifting. The S was so well-planted, I couldn't get the rear to step out at ALL!!

In all seriousness, it's a little scary to drive insanely fast on that road...you can't tell from the angle, but it's a pretty steep drop if you decide the S shouldn't be on the pavement any longer.

Brian, you are almost correct. That pic is near the top of the pass on 120. It's still about a quarter-mile to where Old Priest Grade meets up with 120. I've never taken the "Short cut." I was not aware that was an option. However, I wouldn't miss those twisties for anything. I like how you mentioned "legally passing." I encountered two slow SUVs on my way up the hill. It's a double yellow line all the way up. Somehow, and I still can't figure out how this happened , they mysteriously ended up behind me. . Hmm.
