well.. i ended up having to change the serpentine belt anyways.. but i dont see the problem with spraying just a little bit with the the red straw provided.

bearing going out alternator or idler pulley

I little coolant splashed into the wrong place

Wd-40 affects the frictional properties between the belt and pulley. Sometimes it can ruin the bearing of the pully. The Belt spray/dressing actually conditons the belt, and creates no slippage. With the Wd-40 it will attract dust an other contaminates in the future.
