Default Honda Say's Wait

The mantenence required light on my dashboard has started to blink. I called the Honda dealership on Santa Monica in Hollywood and they said do not bring it in till 7000 miles, I only have 5500 miles on my car. Is this a standard thing for the light to blink upon start up of the car? I would think it would not be. has anyone else had this problem?

I would call another dealer and get a second opinion.

I just did. The light is there just as a reminder that you need service at 7000 miles. It has no censors, and does not monitor you engine. It is just a way for Honda to get you to bring the car into them for service. To turn it off, hold down the sel. button for the trip odometer on the dash while you turn the key to the on position.

Just FYI, there really isn't much done during the 7000 mile service. All they really do is an oil change. You're probably better off doing that yourself.

I was going to check in my manual and find out what they do. Most I can do myself, if not I will go to a shop I know and have them do it.

Oil change interval is between 3,750 and 7,000 miles, depending on your driving style, driving condition, etc. It's always good to leave the break-in oil in a little longer, but still no more than 7,000 miles. I think you're still fine at 5,500 miles, but I would get it changed soon.
