04 Corvette for $36K
This happened when the C5 came out too. Unless you already have a deal put together, you won't get a C6 until next winter at the earliest and you'll pay at least MSRP. Figure $10-$12k difference on a base model. You'd make some of that up in resale value of the C6, but you'd have a killer deal a Z06 today and still have the fastest Corvette for about 2 years. For some reason, I expect the current Z06 to remain a favored, respected car. Maybe that's because I expect the C6 Z06 to cost near $60k and have a performance advantage almost entirely visible only on a track. I mean, how low can 0-60 times really go and who can tell the difference on the street? GM already claims the Z06 at 3.9 seconds 0-60, so if the C6 Z06 is an absolute rocket it's at 3.5 or 3.6? Isn't the Enzo and McLaren at like 3.3 or something? Law of diminishing return here I think.
Edit: I realize there is much more to performance and the C6 than 0-60 times, I am just using that to make my point.

Similar comments were made when the redesigned Viper debuted. Reviewers wrote, "according to the specs the new Viper is faster, but it was so fast before that we're not sure we could tell."
I wonder what impact the C6 will have on the 911 C2, which is starting to look very dated to this observer's eyes.
Also, with C5 prices dropping like this, I'm wondering if any potential 350Z shoppers might go for a C5 instead.

I think for me if it were between the C5 Z06 and the C6 I would go for the discounted C5 ZO6. I still like the looks of the C5 just a bit better as I haven't had the chance to see a C6 is person yet. Plus, you get the special ZO6 car rather than a standard Corvette. At $45K for a ZO6 I don't think you can go wrong.
The Z06 is worth every penny, I've driven one and it was an awsome drive. They just have poer for days those suckers. If your going to get a vette, do yourself a favor and at least go out and test drive a Z06 so you wont kick yourself later.

I am still debating wether to get a '04 Z06 at a bargain price or wait for the standard C6.
