During the testdrive I would look for clutch shudder. It's usually apparent when the car is cold and can be quiet violent. At least the one on my wrx was. Also do a simulated 'stop and go' traffic routine, I found the car to be pretty rough in traffic as 1st gear was too lurchy and second gear didn't have enough tourque to keep from stalling. I on/off nature of the power got annoying for me. If you don't care for performance that much, I would recommend the 2.5TS. More low-end torque and decent power.
