Anybody had baffles "go bad" in a muffler?
#22
My f355 now sounds like a boxer engine. Think of a WRX/STi with an aftermarket exhaust, and that's basically what it sounds like now.
I had someone listen and they said the baffles inside the muffler might be going bad? Not even sure what that means. I've never had an exhaust have issues like this on any car I've ever owned. I'm not even sure how the baffles could make that sound, or what would be going on with them.
Chalk up issue #3881 after 3 years of ownership of this goddamn car...

Doesn't the Ferrari 355 have a rather complex exhaust, in stages? Yeah, think you need to go to shop and get complete exhaust. I remember Car Fix doing an exhaust upgrade on a 355. Exhaust part starts around 15:00 of YT video.

I believe the issue is fixed. After taking off the muffler and inspecting everything along the way, I noticed the exhaust clamps were rather loose. The Muffler pipes on the bottom mate to the cats (with no gaskets), then you have these clamps which are basically 2 half circles you attach where the pipes mate, then you tighten it with a nut/bolt on each side. The nuts are rather small, I think 9mm, so I can see how they can come loose.
I'll have to drive it some, then double-check the clamps and see if they are coming loose again.
