Cool vid, my cat(mugen) went crazy while I was watching it.

 

I would doubt that the whine is coming from the gearbox since it does not change pitch with the engine revs. I would assume that it is coming somewhere after the gearbox such as the rear differential.

I'm surprised track officials let that race start with people still standing at the grid. Did you see those guys jump over the barriers and the guy walking at the beginning of the video look shocked the race started.
