BMW Drivers
Coming from an E36 to S2000 was a big change (in a good way), i test drove a E46 M3, 350Z and STi before i bought the S. it felt right when i got it, and lately the more i drive it the more i fall in love with it...being honest.. i didn't appreciate the car as much as i do now...don't know why!
for the past two days i have spotted seven E92 M3 near my apartment complex (two of them are my neighbours) and bunch of E46s, and one S2K... so today i was wondering, do people buy M3s and generally BMWs for the performance or mostly exclusivity??? because for the past 10 years or so they have became so popular that a civic si or ITR are more exclusive than normal 3 series i think.
today when i turn into the garadge, this E46 M3 was parked next to my parking spot, right when i got out. he said "the engine sounds familiar!", i said "did you have a S2000 before the M3??...he replied "ooo, i thought that was the Z4"...
this dude knew nothing about cars!!?

I'm sure exclusivity and performance are both factors in many M3 purchases, the power is going to be evident during a test drive/ride and the looks give it that "racer" look edge over the base 3-series. The limiting factor is reaching the limits during daily driving on public roads in an M car.

Most people buy BMWs for the badge. Enthusiasts buy BMWs to track.

huh?
Almost everyone buys something b/c of the badge. How many of us would skip over a Kia,Daewoo,Suzuki and jump to Honda? How many of us wouldnt touch a German car and get a Lexus, Infiniti, Acua. EVERYONE IS SOME SORT OF BADGE WHORE.

If this thread is about the ///M exclusivity, I'll have you know that in SoCal there isn't any exclusivity among BMW's performance division. If this thread is about people not knowing anything about cars but driving performance variations of regular family sedans, welcome to the real world, buddy.

I can't afford to track my M3 (more specifically, the risk of an uninsured accident), that's why I have a Miata for track use.
Still love it just the same...
I have to admit that even though I have several friends w/ BMW's, I don't have the most positive image of BMW owners in general.

couldn't agree more.
