The Boss is Back
interesting how the exact same colore scheme is "amazing on a gt3rs, but on a mustang its "tacky"
I think that the laguna version is amazing. and yes, i would prefer mine in one color, but it certainly is striking. If one of these could be had for <30k when its two years old, i will be all over it. Though i will say, not knowing what it is going to weigh, that it needs a 500lbs diet to be perfect.
and did anyone notice the dual side, and rear exhaust? i can't decide if that is the coolestt thing ever, or kind of dumb, but i bet that it sounds amazing in person.

I'm not sure how else to put it. I'm basically stating this from Inside Line.
"Think of the Corvette lineup in Porsche 911 terms. The base coupe and convertible Corvette are analogous to the standard Carrera and Carrera S. The Z06 is the GT3 — the loud, hard-core choice of the performance junkie. The ZR1 is the Porsche Turbo. It's devastatingly fast, but it's also intended to be civilized. It's available with a head-up instrument display, power-adjustable seats, high-end audio and Delphi's smooth-riding MagneRide suspension dampers. It's no raw-boned racer. Hell, at 3,300 to 3,400 pounds, the ZR1 is almost 300 pounds heavier than a Z06."
And this is how I see the GT/Boss 302/GT500 relationship.
When the ZR1 was launched, reviewers generally praised its track handling compared to the Z06. It was not only quicker in the comparison tests, but was also lauded for being more composed on the track. The ZR1 even had hardware advantage for track work - magnetic shocks, giant brakes, improved dry sump system that wouldn't grenade the motor on long left hand sweepers.
It's possible that the 2011 Z06 with the optional Z07 package (also limited edition Z06 Carbon) will finally be that GT3 of Corvettes unlike earlier C6 Z06s.
Even w/o the Z07/Carbon package, I still think of the Z06 as the more track-oriented model. It has plenty of power for anyone, is significantly lighter, and is affordable/available enough. Last time I attended a Drivers Edge event, I was surprised at the number of Z06's - they've become one of the most popular track cars, quite a feat given their running costs.
I think of the ZR1 as more of a supercar/GT car. Not many folks are going to spend six figures on a car to thrash on the track, and those that do tend to heavily favor Porsches.

If you still can't see the similarities after this explanation, then you're hopeless.

I love the design direction Ford is going. They still don't have a car that I will buy, but they're not far off. If they gave us a new Focus and an SVT version, I would be on board.
[QUOTE]For years, people have been able to justify buying cars like M3s even though they may be slower in a straight line because they are so fast around a track...but dude if it is faster on a track than an M3...well, then BMW is going to step up their game and we'll all win.
