if you take a new Cayman S on some back roads, you'll end up buying it, it's getting rave reviews...the vette is going to handle like a 747 in comparison, the car just looks huge
no, I know several guys who have roadraced S2000s, EVOs, vettes, Beemers, and FDs, and they all agree the vette is a big car, and it feels like it on the track
I love the vette, but it's never going to be a nimble track weapon, just forget it, it's a big, stable sports car, well suited for cruising and open sweepers, not mountain switchbacks or tighter tracks....it also looks like the back end was chopped off with a meat cleaver

I know several guys who have roadraced Corvettes too. I am one, I've had two corvettes. I also track with other Corvette owners.
Anyone who says it feel like a big car is OBVIOUSLY someone who hasn't driven one, or has only ever driven a go-kart.
However, even IF what you say is true, you are only providing second-hand information. Why not go drive one, preferably on a track, and then provide first-hand knowledge and experience to share.

I've driven several C6's, and they feel like a big car to me. Still love them, but to me they feel much bigger than the dimensions indicate.

To me it feels big on the highway, while cruising. When I start to push the car, especially on the track, it tends to shrink.
It's not a "lightweight" car by anyone's definition, but it corners pretty flat and the brakes seem more than capable of hauling it down from speed. It can also carry good corner speeds and does have a surprising ammount of lateral grip.
I have personally seen 1.18g on the built-in G-meter on OEM Runflat tires. This was at Blackhawk Farms raceway in Rockford, IL. I was able to replicate the reading at Autobahn Country Club's track in Joliet, IL. I believe it is capable of more on the OEM tires, but I just couldn't seem to get there personally.

ok, but the issue here is relative driving experience

While the C6 does feel big compared to a car like the S2000 on the street at slow speeds, much of it is due to the low seating position and shape of the fenders/hood, when driving the car at the limit, it seems much smaller. I let several local S2000 owners drive my C6 at an autocross a few years ago and they all commented on how much smaller the car feels the faster you go.
And as far as you opinion on the back end looking chopped off, you can have your opinion but I will ahve to again disagree and ask you to take a closer look at the shape, it is curvy and not angular at all although it is not noticeable from all angles. The C6 spent extensive time in the wind tunnel to refine the shape of the car. BTW, stock C6's regularly post faster times on autocross courses than many of the cars you have listed. Some would consider that a relatively small tight course. On mountain switchbacks, IMO a C6 will leave an S2000 when they are both on similar tires. however, an Elise is a slightly different story, the Elise will pull away slightly through the tightest sections, but the C6 is back on its bumper at the first hint of a straightaway. At the end of a long day in the cars, the Elise driver feels a little beat up, the C6 driver not so much. Ask me how I know!
