Calling Corvette Experts
I am watching the Top Gear with the ZR1, CTS-V, and Challenger SRT-8 now and may need to get a Corvette (that ZR1 is amazing...and the Z51 car may be about 8/10s as good), despite the fact that everyone I know is telling me to get a Cayman S.
Yeah, there are killer deals going on with the Vettes these days.
I bought mine last summer when they had the employee pricing + 0% financing.
Mine is an '08 with Z51 and polished/forged wheels.
Sticker was pretty much $50k, and paid less than $44k OTD.
So I'd say you can try to shoot for $40k OTD.
When I was shopping,
I tried different combos like non-Z51, 1LT, 2LT, etc.
I had to have the Z51 like you, but wasn't decided if I needed the 2LT.
Not to disagree with QUIKAG, but I don't think the 2LT seats are any better than the 1LT.
It does have the side airbags, which is a plus, but that adjustable side bolsters did nothing for me.(I'm 5'10", 170 lbs.)
God, I hated the seats but after a while, I started to like the comfortness of it. Seriously, it's really really comfortable for long driving.
Though I like spirited driving(like the Tail of the Dragons), I never track my car and considering the fact that I DD mine, the seats work okay for me.
The 2 things I miss in my 1LT are the HUD, and the heated seats.(I'm in Michigan
)
I agree with QUIKAG about the base stereo.
They're pretty impressive for a "base" radio, IMO.
has plenty of bass and good response that I don't have THAT much of a desire to install an aftermarket system.
(FYI, I had Alpine HU w/ JL components in my S)
As for the chrome wheels, I'm not into chrome at all but the more I look at Vettes, they look pretty good with chromes.
Mine are the "Gumby" wheels which are forged and polished, and now I love 'em. (At first, I thought about selling them)
Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any questions.

Why get a new one??
Use 2006-2007 Z06 Corvettes are selling for around $40K at wholesale dealer auctions!!!!
That about 50% depreciation in a 12-24 months.
I actually started to look for a grey Z06. Deals are too good to pass up.

I only got the 2LT for the side airbags. The stock seats are fine, the sport seats are nice for their great adjustability, but it's not a world changer. A 1LT with Z51 and NPP is a great package. Or instead of NPP, just get a mean Corsa exhaust for equal or less money.

to own a C6 Vette, too. No matter how many get seen in a day, they're still vehicles that turn heads.
