Calling Corvette Experts
Yes, there is an ipod connection on the base radio. The base radio is acceptable. It's not a Mark Levinson or Lexicon, but has decent bass and an okay range. I normally keep the radio down and the rpm's up to let that beautiful LS3 sing.
NPP is the optional dual-mode exhaust.

An '08 for $10K+ off is a stellar performance bargin! Very livable, plenty of room for modifications, plenty fast bone stock, roomy, etc.
As you've probably researched, the 08's and above are using the TR6060 tranny (which is definitely a shifting improvement) and have a revised steering rack for improved tactile feedback.
GM had added a 1LT option for Verts so that's what I was initially shopping - the main differences are related to seating (vs. 2LT+): 1) not nearly as supportive 2) do not have side airbags 3) were not available in two-tone (though that's obviously just a cosmetic consideration).
The 2LT price delta for just the seating is worth it in my opinion. The 3LT starts really escalating the price (but adds a good number of neato options). I wish more options were available "ala cart", because I know a ton of people who would do a 1LT + HUD (among other combos).
I don't subscribe to the "just a Chevy" mindset - it's an iconic vehicle, that's been in production continuously since 1953 (minus 83), set hundreds of milestones, been competitive with anything built and represents some outstanding performance value. There's a reason they sell 30K a year.

^ I was kidding about the "just a Chevy" comment. Someone said that in another thread.

I was very close to buying a C6 Vert - first a new 08, then later a used 06. I've had 4 Vettes so it was a simple choice to stick with the car I know so well, but I just really felt like doing something different (i.e., the S2K). Even the Wifey said, get it and if you don't like it, sell it since there will always be C6's in the used channel. The C6 would have been just a "lateral" move from my Z06 since it wouldn't have added any new features or performance.
FWIW, I also find it odd when people cross shop roadster v. coupes (like a Cayman v. a S2K) - in my mind it's not comparable. If I weren't looking for a roadster the S2K would not have been a consideration (that's a little OT, but was on my mind from some other threads).
I seem to remember my C5Z stickered about $50K without any of the minor options (spec paint, seat memory, strake strips). At the time I only got 'em down to $46K. C6's did raise the bar a bit on sticker price (and the Z06 went nuts).

Undesirable?
1. Any base Corvette without Z51.
2. Any Corvette with chrome wheels (I guess I could make an exception if someone gave me, say, a ZR1 with chrome wheels, but it'd never be my choice).
3. Any yellow, victory red, atomic orange, or jetstream blue Corvette. Not a huge fan of white on a Corvette, either. Your opinion may vary. I like black, the new grey, and crystal red.
4. Any 1LT Corvettes? I haven't sat in one, but, apparently, the seats in the 1LT cars may not be too desirable, though no Corvette seats are really all that desirable.

I am looking for a new car, and I am thinking about getting "just a Chevy" (I've actually loved Corvettes since I was a kid...I'm 33). The 0% 60 mo. financing on left-over '08s is compelling. I am looking at a black/black manual 1LT, Z51, NPP car, the sticker for which is $50K, I believe. My questions are 1. how much should I expect to get off sticker on a left-over '08 ($10K?) and 2. how are the seats in the 1LT cars? I don't need the extra stuff that comes with the 2LT, 3LT, 4LT, but since all Corvette seats are lousy, I am concerned about the base, non-sport seats in the 1LT. Should I be? $40K for the car with 0% financing is pretty attractive.
As an aside, I am probably down to the '08 Corvette v. an '06 or '07 Cayman S, which I love. Or, if practicallity wins the day, which I hope it doesn't, I am also considering a capable but soulless 335i (good lease deals available now), a more soulful but more expensive to maintain E39 M5, or a happy-medium G8 GXP.

Considering he's starting at $43, sub 40 may be doable.
