Default Just an IDEA

I recently got married. We've been talking about having kids in about a year or so.

She has an 09 Corolla S so we already have 1 four door car. As it will make it really hard to only have one 4 door car(if something happens to her car), I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to bite the bullet and sell the S as I can't afford 3 car payments.

I want to get a sporty car, but also safe, so I've been looking at an 09 WRX STI hatchback. I definately CAN afford it, but I'm not sure I necessarily WANT to...

What would you recommend for a new/newer 4 door car that is safe, but still sporty...(not really looking for anything like the civic si)

EDIT: I'm now looking at an Evo 9

Well, since you said you aren't sure you want to spend the bucks on a WRX that does limit your choices...

Mazdaspeed3, Cobalt SS, Civic Si, Sentra V... Not many choices out there that are all that sporty and less expensive than a WRX.

WRX sounds like a good bet. Not sure if it's too much $$$, but I also really like the G37 6MT and G8 GXP (see thread re. same).

Well, my $.02 would say if you are getting rid of the S four a four door to have some space for the kid, then I would not suggest something sporty and SMALL.

Now I don't really equate big with sporty, but something like a CTS or an Audi would have more room than a WRX unless you get the wagon to give you a roof rack maybe and the space in the hatch.

The Corolla your wife has should probably not be the big safe vehicle for the kiddies.

Besides you KNOW you really WANT a minivan!!!!!!! Actually, I have the S for the summer and an 07 outback XT limited turbo wagon with a stick. Its not chick head turning sporty, but it will do basically anything, and its faster than my stock S and fairly fun to drive in traffic.

Probably too drastic a step for you. My brother calls mine the "Stationfaggin". I really like it though and he drives a Prius so what does he know. Fairly easily moddable to STI power levels and safe as sh*t. My insurance is $200 full coverage for six months. They went to this body style in 05 and you can find those used in good shape for about $15-$17k pretty easy.

I'm looking at the WRX Hatchback right now.

As for the corolla S not being the safe car, why is that?

In 2000, I sold an RX7 for a family-friendly four-door sedan. You have no idea what mojo deficiency can do to the male psyche. That is, until I got my S2K. Everything is A-Ok now... Phew!
