I'm sure that VTEC is a handful but the MPH in the quarter was a disappointment. I had one with 125HP and it would hit over 100 MPH in the quarter. My current 1967 Cooper S will a have MINCOMPracing.com 115-120 HP engine and I know it will be faster than my S2000 when the S2000 was stock. I know traction was a issue but that Mini should have hit nearly 110 MPH in the quarter mile with a Type R engine. A 2200 lb CRX will run low 13 quarters witha similar trap speed.

What do you guys think this mini is classified as when it comes to registration? A kit car or some speciality car thats exempted from state emissions? And also, where do you think the mini bodies are sourced? Lastly, the company claims that the hood and front end needs to be extened 4 inches !! to accomadate the engine. How safe would that be??

I'm asking here because i sent them an email and they havent responded in 3 days.

I have owned 2 minis and have had alot of experience with them. The car pictured is a late 80s early 90s mini. I beleive the car has to be 20-25 yrs old for export. They got away with this by using a title and VIN plate from an older car. If you ask them they will tell you that is not a late model car. I can tell it is a late model car and there is no doubt in my mind. My last mini was a 71 and I registered it as a Historic car so I didn't need an inspection and it was exempt from emissions. I am sure that MOST states have similar laws. As far the 4" stretch it is perfectly safe. This swap has been around in the UK for 4 yrs now. If you doubt the 4" stretch is safe think of a limo.

The bodies are sourced from all over the world. If are intersted in purchasing a body let me know and I can steer you in right direction. Check out www.minimania.com for now.

saw this car and company at the auto show last year. the engines are mounted in the rear trunk area .... the concept behind it is pretty cool, that is if you can find an original mini!
Evil Twin in the UK do a rear Hayabusa conversion on original Mini shells (as well as MMC Smarts).

As to how you would find an original mini, British Motor Heritage can supply new body shells and panels stamped from the original moulds in either early (60's) mini, clubman (70's) mini or just-before-it-was-killed mini (late 80's) styles....
