I say find a good condtioned older s2k, you already have a dd when you need it so get something better. Plus you say now that the mod bug won't hit you, but in some way it usually does, so use the extra money to do a couple of things you want to do to the car.

It really depends on what you will be using it for. I'd say the Si is more of a sporty fun car, not a sports car. The S is a sports car geared towards driving, sacrificing space and practicality.

It is really an apple/orange comparison.

I just love these threads.

You ask if anyone has ever experienced a similar situation? What exactly would that be?
Have I ever wanted to purchase a car? yes
Have I ever had to decide between two I like? yes
Have I ever asked a group of people I don't frigging know, who have no idea what my vehicular needs are, who have any idea how old I am, what my insurance is, or whom I don't particularily give a chit what their opinion might be? no, no, no, no and let me see....no.
i was referring to folks who decide between the specific cars. heres the facts for ya:
25, no tickets, no kids. insurance would be about 150 a month.

btw, theres plenty of folks on 8thcivic.com who have traded up (or down) between the ap1/2 and the fg2/5. i was curious as to any of them made it to this board. i thought 26k OTD was a decent price, maybe i need to do some more research.

The S2K has only 15000 mi on it and I can get it for around 26K out the door. Its pretty clean, only 2 tiny scratches on the rear bumper. Also, the driver seat looks kind of worn on the left side of it, like a big guy owned the car and jumped in and out of it.
Personally, I went for a new S2000, as you can put the first mile on it and pay $30k OTD after $2k taxes without too much trouble. Maybe an 07 a few hours away? But that's just me--$4k is worth it to me to be the first owner, pick the color, wear out my own damn seat, scuff my own damn bumper (i hope not), and start without that 15k on the odometer.

Comparing a Civic si vs an S2000, the si will probably be cheaper and a lot of fun. Also, the S2000 isn't leaps and bounds faster than the current si (the CTR has beat S2000s in some best motoring vids, so they're closer than i'd like to admit ), but on that same note, there are a number of faster cars for the money, such as the new Z.

But there's a reason people still want NSXs, and it's not because it's faster than a C6, nor are they cheaper. Likewise, I love convertibles, I love the RWD with the peaky powerband, I love the handling and styling, and in short, I just love the car.

I'm one of those, I traded down and am happy for it. I miss my S, but when the S became my DD, it got old fast. I'm 6'2" and I bought a house so the S was out. I really like my Si Sedan, very happy with it so far. I think the S2000 + Si combo would be really sweet.
