The new Supra - who wanted this?

Had car and driver rated the Supra better it would be the last I read of them. Anyone who says the Supra is an engaging experience hasn’t driven an engaging car.

I'm a fan of the gt350 and used to own one, I wonder how much the lack of a third pedal weighed in on this. Funny, I thought the shelby was very refined and quiet on the highway, but I came from s2000s and vettes lol.

My R gets quiet in 6th below 90mph but opens back up above. It tracks all over the road, is pretty firm over bumps and there is a reasonable amount of road noise. It requires regular attention. Add to that the firm bucket seats and refined isn’t the word I’d use. My hellcat on the other hand is very comfy and aside from the louder exhaust/intake at those speeds is a more refined experience. Just for my comparison. If I got into my 3 series or Lexus those are refined cars.

Strength of the yen was nuts back then, as the 1994 Supra TT was $36k.

First time seeing one in person today. Passed me on the highway doing at least 100mph with an STI hot on its tail. The short flash of it that I saw looked pretty sexy I gotta say.

It was actually more. Started at $40k in '93, crept up quickly to $50,400 in '96, then got a massive cut back to $40k in '97 (plus some optional features added as standard) which pissed off a lot of people who had already bought Supras. $45k in 1995 adjusted for inflation is $72k today.
