NSX vs 996 Turbo

nsx. you're going to build your own car anyway. power, suspension, chasis, interior, exterior, electronics, body, paint, etc.
since you are both starting from ground zero according to your future plans (you will ALWAYS have plans for your ride to make it better), i'd go with the legendary nsx. you can make that into a porsche killer.
becasue we all know. you are not gonna leave it stock.

It doesn't matter what you do to a NSX, it just doesn't have the potential of the 996TT. Anything that you do to an NSX can be easily trumped for a lot less with the Turbo.
Buy an NSX because it's what you want and for it's shape, balance and heritage (not because of fanboism)...
But a Porsche Turbo killer? Nope. No way.

I'm not surprised by the amount of pro-NSX posts on this site. I have to say though, there's no way I'd consider one over a 996 Turbo. The Porsche is on a completely different performance level, and the NSX is demanding a bit too high of a premium for what you're getting in my opinion.
As for people saying you'd hate the 996 every time you saw a 997...I certainly wouldn't. They look very similar overall and a 996 is still a sexy car. The headlights are about the only thing that look odd and the covers pictured earlier in the thread solve that issue.

I hate to be the guy that throws another car into the mix, but what about the 993 Turbo? That has always stood in my mind as the sexiest version of the Porsche Turbo created, not to mention one of the most revolutionary in terms of technology.
First 911 with:
AWD
Twin Turbos
Hollow spoke wheels
Painted brake calipers (aesthetic I know, but this car was the first to have them)
You also have the last of the air cooled 911s, the classic 5 gauge dash and it can still some serious tail.
After all these years, I still drool over it

993 Turbo in good condition is going to cost a lot more than a 996 Turbo, though. I agree that it's more appealing, though!

Any turbo car is much easier to find extra power...a few bolt-ons and maybe an ECU tune to the 996TT will probably give it an extra 100 hp. I agree the 996 looks a bit dated, but so does the NSX. Both just need a couple exterior tweaks and they are good

IMHO i think that the 996TT is in a different category when it comes to performance and on paper and is better in pretty much everything than a NSX BUT i would buy a NSX over the 966TT that is only because i love the NSX for what it is not for what it looks like on paper. Now on another hand a GT3 ummmm that's a whole different story. Buy the car that is going make you feel happy and make you feel like a little kid when ever you drive it.
