NSX vs 996 Turbo
#71
I just purchased an NSX over a Porsche 911 and although I disagree with your opinion about the look of the NSX, I actually laughed (in a good way) reading your post. Sounds like you bought the NSX for something it didn't have and then got disappointed when you found out. different stroke for different folks.
I read through the whole thread and really the only post that caught my attention was this one. I wanted to give a huge thanks to you since you seem to know that the NSX "hype" is largely built off its Honda fanboy base which consists mostly of lower end sports car owners.
(snip)
Let the NSX stay the dream you've always had. Don't ruin it by owning one.

I personally have never cared for the NSX. I would take the Porsche in a heart beat. To me, the NSX is extremely dated.
I guess both cars would be great to own but i wold rather have the Porsche

I certainly don't regret the purchase, if that's what you're implying. It was a great car, I just didn't feel it offered much else the S2000 didn't. In the end I feel the roadster is Honda's true gem. You are correct in the different strokes for different folks

Why are NSXs still so expensive? Because of Honda fanboy?
For 30k, I rather own a AP2 S2000 and put a supercharger on it because nothing can really beat a S2000 for its value. S2000 is like the best car there is.

Because there are still some people who want them?
Before I bought my NSX, I considered a 1996-1997 993 turbo. To me, it's the most beautiful 911 ever. Its spartan interior looks even worse than the NSX, and the NSX interior is nothing to write home about COMPARED to the latest cars these days with all the electronics gadget. A good condition 993 turbo now cost as much as if not more than a used 997 turbo even 997 is faster. After reading enough about it, I decided not to buy it since it can be a maintenance headache.
So whoever buy a 993 turbo is a Porsche fanboy? Not everbody buy cars for the same reason. Some like to buy the latest cars with the latest technology, some buy cars just because those cars were their dreams, or whatever.

You forget 1 thing as to why the value is going up on the 993.Last of the air cooled porsches.Totaly diffrent powerband and sound and to some people last of the real porsches. My ideal porsche would be a 1997 turbo

same thing for the folks who value the NSX as honda doesn't make it anymore and it's the only mid-engine honda ever offered to the public. I personally bought the NSX for its look. I don't care much for the interior. The fact that my NSX is supercharged helps although I would still buy it if it wasn't SC'ed albeit with a lower price.
I figured as long as Porsche keeps making 911, and they will, one day I will sell the NSX and hopefully get the Porsche turbo or GT3. Sounds like a plan?

This may or may not be true, but I'm going to guess that the NSX has really high value because it was tuned by Ayrton Senna, or at least he gave some input. To be honest that's probably the only reason I'd want the car over the S2000. Don't get me wrong, I really like it and all, but technology has progressed a lot since that time and the S2000 offers really really similar performance while costing a lot less and still having a nicer interior. Well that and it's mid engined. I still want one though!

Stop being stupid.
The NSX is expensive because it is probably the best car honda will ever make.

There is a certain irony in your two paragraphs, you know?
