Ordered an /M4 :)
I have a 2011 M3 Sedan (e90) with DCT. From what I've heard the new line is a little better in pretty much everything except steering feel (a bit numb from the electronic steering added to save gas) and the visceral "driving experience". It's hard to beat the V8 in the last generation.
It does have a pretty amazing turbo and quite a bit more torque. The brakes on the outgoing model were more than adequate so I don't think you'll be disappointed with even the standard brakes/calipers.
As far as mileage I see that the new car is a tad bit better, but it's not even into the S2000 range for economy so you aren't buying this to be a gas sipper.
M4 is correct choice if you like the style and go with the carbon fiber roof. If you go with a carbon roof delete definitely go M3. The sedan not only costs less up front, but insurance is usually a LOT less.
Also, consider Geico's "mechanical breakdown" insurance. If you purchase within 15k miles/15 months of new purchase, you get 7 year 100k mile coverage of all non-consumables for a $200 deductible. For my e90 the price was about $440 total for all 7 years combined. Even though you get 4 years/50k with the car, you can't buy the 3 year/50k extension for anything near that price.

Awesome! I have to ask though, why not M3 with a family and all? Just for looks I suppose?

I actually debated, I was back and forth, but I have a 4-door Sonata as my daily so if I need the room, I'd just take that. I also like the coupe's looks slightly more
Why not dump that Sonata and drive this full time? With the previous M3 the gas mileage was so horrendous it made sense to keep it as a second car but these are quite a bit better.
(BTW not trying to start something, just really curious how people decide to drive around a 20k beige-mobile everyday while their 75k super-sports-coupe gathers dust in the garage, I know I couldn't do it)

It's not so much an up charge for the coupe, it's a down charge for the sedan. It doesn't have the more expensive carbon fiber roof. If you order the coupe without the roof. I'm not certain what the exact premise of this might be for those who go with the CF roof delete as I don't think that it actually saves money. Definitely do not ever get the coupe with a moon roof. It adds the weight of the moon roof AND deletes the CF. That's a double hit.
Yup, you're gonna love that torque Joey Bananas.
Don't blame the DCT on the wife, trust me, you're gonna love it!! The gears just bang one to the next. The LEDs are incredible, the auto high beams, I could go on and on about the 4 series.
So easy to drive fast, I hope your license is free of points.

A couple of reasons, I leased the Sonata so I'm bound by contract
. Secondly, I don't want to drive the car is shitty weather (snow, salty roads,) RWD won't be fun on icy roads and lastly, when I go to work, I'd rather leave the Sonata in the employee parking lot at the airport (pilot) for 4 days instead of the M4
