Porsche is doing WRONG
@WRS2K
I've had exposure to standard, S variants in street and track driving, though nothing later than MY07 - also took a look at a modified car (aftermarket brakes, suspension, some mild induction/exhaust mods) that was outstanding, but a little too much for a weekend cruiser.
I probably - whether consciously or not - didn't decouple some of the more subjective qualities from the pure technical merits, so my decision to go with the S2K isn't purely based on performance.
The driving experience of the two (at least on the street, haven't' had the S2K on track yet) is very close by my estimation - pure, direct and engaging. I had a Supra that would've sucked the headlights out of most production cars, but it was far less fun that my little Honda (but I'm preaching to the choir!).
@MDX
Great pics but even the OP didn't say anything negative about the 911 platform
Here's a couple of cool pics from the 24 hour last year

How can it be over-rated if there is no substitute?
Enlighten me to what other car under $100K looks and feels like a Porsche, while offering similar quality, reliability, and durability, and then just maybe you'll appear to have a clue.

I work on Porsches. They are not reliable OR durable. You want me to give YOU a clue maybe?
the s2000 had a few niggles. the m3 had one or two. all in all, all these cars have been what i would be able to call "bulletproof" to date.
explain yourself else you have no idea what you're talking about

I think he is just jealous because he works on Porsche's all day, but never truly gets to enjoy one.
Back to the original thread topic, I wish the Panamera had better proportions. IMO if they were going to make it look like a 911, they should have stretched it just 8"-12" and put suicide doors for the back (like the RX8) just to give a little more leg room to the back seat passengers. In doing this hopefully they could really keep the beauty of the 911.

OP, I can't really flame the initial post. It was an interesting perspective. Seeing a light colored Cayman (base) in my rear view on the highway this week, I did see resemblance to the 911 in its front end - much like how the early 996 models shared a Boxster look.
