A bunch of relatively heavy sedans vs a proper sports car...
ironic isnt it? Well all the above options were set as Daily Drivers. haha only thing that stopped me and currently stopping me from going balls to the wall and grabbing one it: is experiencing those payments and idea of something breaking on a 10 y/o Porsche is scary haha. That wont stop me later on though once i have a DD to accompany it.

Vs. an S2000 you sense every bit of the speed, it's exciting if a little grating over long distances.

Anyway, congrats. You don't need to spend a ton and have 400hp+ to have a fun car!
you and I have talked E9x M3. I hit 90 quickly on a backroad that wasn’t smooth and I still didn’t feel like I was going that fast. On the one hand, wow BMW, and on the other how is this car going to feel fun when most of my driving is under 50 mph. Some of these modern luxury sportcars are so well composed they hide the sense of speed.

Yeah most performance cars today are as mundane as an accord until you drive it feloniously or on a track. Sure those quick jobs st the throttle remind you what's there but frankly cars are becoming too much. In alot of ways I wish the manufacturers did a handshake on power much like the 300hp thing JDMs did in the 90s.

I've driven our 997c2s to work three days this week (good weather = top down), and took the 987s the day my wife drove the 911. They do just fine as daily drivers! They've been plenty reliable, but you're right, you need to be ready to write a big check if something does go wrong...

I think it also depends where you live. Out in Nebraska? Well you can fully take advantage of that 600hp that youve got under the hood. In California San Francisco Bay Area? Good luck being able to experience even a fraction of that. I do agree with all of you. Driving the S2000 even lightly makes you feel how much of a true sports car it is. Driving my friends Mustang GT, it basically felt like a Camry until i put my foot down...which last 1 second because there was too much traffic.

With all those scares for 997's bore scoring, and IMS blah blah im sure its all hyped up but theres always that "What If" and in the comparison to newer cars :\..
This is where the S2k comes into play, yes its old. BUT its a Honda and parts seem to be readily available at not too heavy of a check haha.

Yeah very true. The only caveat to that though is that most people won't go on a long empty road, and accelerate, slow back down, accelerate, slow back down, etc. So the acceleration fun only lasts while you're getting up to speed. And if I lived out in Nebraska, or wherever that has long, empty, relatively straight roads, I'd rather have more luxurious ride to just eat up miles in.

I love power, but it just gets to a point where it's more for ego and an occasional thrill than it is for fun.

It's a 997.2, with the 9A1 motor - no IMS bearing. My Cayman is a 987.1 which has the last of the IMS bearings. No issues with that motor either - it's been running a turbo for 8-9 years and 45k miles.
