True, the engines were built in Zuffenhausen and then shipped to Neckarsulm where Audi assembled the 944's. The 944 Turbo was fully assembled by Porsche at Weissach however. Great cars, just a pain in the ass to maintain.
Speaking of a pain in the ass to maintain, the 944 turbo that I'm planning on holding on to just stripped the timing belt due to an oil leak. Now I'm having to dish out about 2500 to fix the problems, well, 3200 since I'm going ahead with a few extras . But I don't really want to have a two week down time like that car is going to require for a daily driver.

Default S2000 vs 944 t

Tighter handling goes s2000 I own hands down, but ....always the but open long stretches if it’s a 88 or 89 944t they will pull away, those 5 speeds got long gearing an those turbo push through them (have a friend that had a 88 turbo s)...s2000 has covertable though you can’t get 944t in a convertible
