if you can get an 04-05 STI, these are the ones with the noticeable turbo lag and boost, and they sound magnificent, good luck, it's fun shopping for a car
They all sound the same and 04/05 wouldn't have any more lag than the 06. The 07 came with a slightly larger turbo and different designed heads. Most 07s also had a severe throttle lag problem in which SOA offered a reflash for. If you plan on modding (who doesn't?) it wouldn't matter because this all would disappear for the 07s My Webpage

If you want something as fun to drive as the S2000 for 25K OTHER than a 2003 S2000 I suggest:

1- 2003 Porsche Boxster S

2-2001 BMW M roadster

3-1992 Acura NSX

TRUST ME on this. You seem young and still want a fun 2 seat car. For 25K these are VERY hard to beat in the fun factor and offer a different driving experience than the S2000.

Go test drive all 3 cars you'll have a blast. If you aern't grinning from ear to ear after driving one of these 3 cars than stick with the S2000.

I know I did

I would try an STI (quick before the new ugly one is out) or an Evo, they are great cars, and I think more fun than the Z350. beware of insurance, when I checked the STI insurance it was like 40% more than the S2k with most insurance companies. even with clean driving history.

While I LOVE STIs and Evos, they will never replace the feel of a true sports car with a low center of gravity and low driving position.

I say while you're young and don't have kids stick with 2 seater roadsters-coupes, life is too short

My parents have also had lots of problems with their Nissan. That is enough for me to stay away from them.

***This is what I pulled up from ww.kbb.com, I know you can buy an 03' with less miles then $24K. It also depends what area you live in too. Maybe that's why when I was entering the info for the S it asked for my zip code (94558). The Claim Adjuster told me the area effects the "market value" as well. I hope, no, I WISH, I do get around $24K since I only owe $10,600. That would give me $13,400 to put down on a new car. Thanks for the advise everyone! This weekend is definitely going to be an educational expirience test driving all these fun cars

I'll give an update with how much the insurance is going to give me. I am sure glad the S kept it's value!
My s2k was total back in feb. state farm give me around $24500 for my 04 with 48,000 miles. which was full retail prices at the time

Yellow2001 - Did you end up buying another S2K?

Yup, still young, engaged, no kids, and still want to have fun before I get all tied up. ha ha ha. That's why I'm looking into getting into something that is fun so I can enjoy it! I agree with Jacques79. Life is to short. So I have to enjoy it while I can

You found a 2003 Boxster S for $25K? My 2002 2.7 Boxster sold for $30K in July of 06. I doubt an 03(with the glass rear window and uprated motor) will sell that cheaply. A quick local search on Autotrader gave an 03 S with 46K miles for $32K and an 04 S with 31K miles for $39K...
