Questions is how well does your work?

i know the valentine works well so i'm not lokin to compare it aainst others just asking what the cops do to defete detector users? Any tricks to be on the lookout for?

I live in NJ but am lookin for opinions from other states as well.

Thanks,

Well, in NJ they still use X-band, so you have to keep the V1 on the most sensitive mode. That way it doesn't mistake radar for a false (due to security systems, automatic door openers, etc.). You'll get more "blips," but you'll learn to distinguish. Otherwise, you may not get X-band detection soon enough to slow down*. Also, try to figure out where the police usually hide. . . I think there's one after exit 7-ish on the NJ Tpk., and there's always one behind an overpass around exit 131 on the GSE. I used to have to drive up that way every Monday, and back every Friday, so I got used to exactly where the traps were.

Anyway, the V1 is great. I don't leave home without it anymore. I have heard good things about the Escort X50 too. I think it has POP detection, which V1 doesn't have. Oh, and it's $100 less (but no arrows, and it's all about the arrows!).

*I do not advocate speeding on public roadways, nor do I accept any responsibility for those who feel the need to do so based on this post. Although I have a radar detector, I do not exceed posted speed limits, ever.

Whoops, does it really? For some reason I thought it didn't. Guess I was wrong. . . Valentine POP

edit: Just realized that this is a new feature. I'm not sure if the older models have POP protection. Guess it's time for a software upgrade for me <-- another advantage of the V1, upgradeable.

yes my v1 saved my ass alot of times already except for that time I got caught speeding up then down a hill but then you should just drive smart and never speed over hills and underpass........no radar can help ya there......

Yes, if you are stupid you will get caught with it (or if they use laser, happened to me twice now!). Otherwise it's the best money can buy, and I've sampled some of the so-called competitors.

v1 is awesome, but like any detector you can't rely on it 100%. when i lived in kansas, it saved me numerous times on the hwy and on long distance drives. i'm in california now and i dont ever use it, simply because the hwys aren't flat out here and because it seems that the highway patrol does more pacing than using radar. best for road trips imo

the feature that made me purchase the v1 were the arrows. i like the idea of knowing which direction the radar is coming from. you can also hardwire the v1 into the cars power supply which is nice, keeps you from having to use up ur cig adapter and havin that cord hang down from ur windshield. dont forget, the s2k cig adapter is towards the back...
